Bulgarian stray cat Pooh lost both of his legs when he was hit by a car aged aged just a year old. Instead of being fitted with the standard solution for four-legged amputees – a “wheelchair” or a set of wheels, the lucky cat was given charity funding for some groundbreaking surgery.
In January this year, veterinary surgeon Vladislav Zlatinov carried out the operation on the black and white cat, surgery that has only previously been performed in the UK. Pooh was fitted out with a pair of prosthetic legs and can now jump, play and pounce as he did before the accident. Not only has Pooh found a new lease of life, he has also found a new family home and no longer has to live on the streets.
